Central Coast Leagues Chess Club Vs the 'rest of the coast'

At the end of each year's Wyong Cup run by Mingara Chess Club (starting 1999), they have a "Mingara Vs the rest of the world" match - basically Mingara Versus anyone else that turns up (if Kasparov came I'm sure he'd be welcomed at board 1). This is usually played on the pesentation night of the Cup. So it seemed like a good idea - a bit of a theme for the night, school holidays had just started some players were played at both clubs (I'm just prefacing some excuses why numbers were so few).

So we had a nine-board match, time limit of all moves in 60 minutes each. I thank the president of Mingara for taking the major part in team selection (we had to have some loaners - well, not really a loan since Don regularly plays in both clubs and Michael would too - if work would allow. But the point I want to stress is that the result could well have been much less one-sided in normal circumstances.

The top 4 boards were tied 2 all; boards 5-9 scored ½ - 4½ for Gosford; overall score was a 6½ - 2½ win for Gosford ( 5+3=1- ). The games are available here.

Hopefully next year we can have a better roll-up of our own players; and attract many of our players who are no longer playing in any local club.

A little sub=note (the first Mingara Vs the rest of the world was 6-6, this year's was 11-6 [granted there were quite a few loaners).
